What Makes Me Feel Beautiful…

It’s that unblemished trust in my two-year-old nephew’s eyes when he runs to me, mouth open, arms outstretched, certain that I would never let him fall. It’s the resonating connection with genuine, fantastic girlfriends who both accept me and believe me to be one of them. It’s knowing, occasionally, that I’ve made them proud. It’s that rare moment when my grandmother looks out from inside of the room in her heart where her Alzheimer’s has led her, and smiles directly into my eyes, thoroughly convinced that I was made of good intentions.
